This program is designed for individuals who are wanting to teach the Red Cross Advanced First Aid (80 hr) or Emergency Medical Responder Program. This course will also include the instructor status for First Responder, Basic Life Support CPR, Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy Instructor Level.

This is the Discipline Specific component in the Canadian Red Cross Instructor Development Pathway for individuals who would like to teach: Advanced First Aid (80 hr) or Emergency Medical Responder Programs. ThisAdvanced First Aid/EMR Instructor also includes the First Responder, Basic Life Support CPR, Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy Instructor Level.
Red Cross has set a class minimum of 4 confirmed candidates. All course materials will be available for pick up from our course location 7 days prior. If you'd like them shipped there will be an additional fee.
Each candidate at the completion of this component in the Instructor Development Pathway will be required to complete the online Teach Experience Program and complete a Teach Experience at the Advanced First Aid or EMR with a Teach Experience Supervisor. AHASTI does offer one scheduled date for this option at no charge. Any changes to this scheduled date after confirmation, maybe subject to additional fees.

Upon successful completion of this program you will have earned the following tickets:
To maintain certification once competed, each instructor will be required to teach a minimum of 3 Canadian Red Cross courses in 3 years with one being at the Advanced First Aid or EMR level.
Alberta Instructors only - please know that you will have to teach 2 workplace approved first aid courses per year. The courses are Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Advanced First Aid or recertifications at these levels. If you are not certified to teach the Emergency or Standard First Aid then you will be required to teach 2 Advanced First Aid course per year to qualify for a recertification.
