Childcare First Aid with Level B/AED Recertification

Course is conducted 100% in class with an instructor while maintaining all safety requirements and social distancing requirements. This recertification course is for people who currently hold a valid ChildCare First Aid with CPR Level B that is not past the date of expiry.

  • Bleeding and Wounds
  • Bone and Joint Injuries
  • Burns and Environmental Injuries
  • Poisons
  • Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Medication
  • Child-Proofing the Environment
  • Infection Prevention
  • Recognizing Signs of Illness

The following are the prerequisite that a student is required to have before being allowed into this course:

  • You must bring your valid/current Standard Childcare with CPR Level B certificate to the course. You are permitted to attend a recertification if the recertification course is prior to your expiry date on the card. Any candidate that does not bring their certification card, may attend the recertification as scheduled, however they will NOT be given a new certification card until the previous card is produced. It must be produced within 7 days of the recertification course. It can either be faxed to the office at 403-262-6982 attn: First Aid Coordinator or in person during regular office hours. A new certification card will be issued at that time and can either be mailed or pick up by the candidate. After 7 days, the candidate will be recorded as a fail and a refund will not be available.
  • Any candidate that has registered in a recertification course with an expired award will be removed from the course. A refund will not be available however the candidate can transfer to a full course and pay the difference in course fees at the time of the transfer.
  • Please be aware that there is NO GRACE PERIOD on certifications. The expiry date is final and AHASTI is not permitted to make exceptions.


This course is to recertify candidates in a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular emergencies for adults, children, and babies, CPR Level B, AED, choking, airway and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth ones, such as sudden medical conditions, and injuries to the head and spine.

AB this course is the requirement for day-care and day-home workers and meets the standards of the Alberta Family & Social Services department.
