EMR Refresher

A refresher course for those who have already successfully completed an ACP-approved EMR course. The student must be able to provide on the first day of the course an EMR Certification that does not exceed 3 years from the date it was issued.

hdgPrerequisites

The following are the prerequisite that a student is required to have before being allowed into this course:

  • Effective Jan 1, 2012 - All EMR Candidate will require:
  • Show proof of graduation from an ACP-approved EMR program that has been completed no later than 3 years from the start of the EMR-Refresher program or proof of an ACP registration at the EMR level within the last three years.
  • Show proof of a current CPR Level C or CPR Level HCP certification from one of the follow agencies ONLY, Canadian Red Cross, St. John's Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol, or Life Saving Society and must have been taken no more than 1 year before the EMR-Refresher course start date.

Student must complete their Alberta College of Paramedics provincial exam and become registered as an EMR within 1 year from the completion of their EMR course. If not, students will be asked by ACP to complete a refresher program.

PROGRAM DELIVERY METHOD
The program we offer is a high quality practical, skill-based student education. There is a self study component, supplemented by interactive multi-media presentations, internet based review and pre-assignments.

Home Study Component:
You will be responsible for 20 hours of home study prior to the course start date. Home study information will be handed out with the student packages once full payment is received by our office.

Pre-course Assignment:
A pre-course assignment will be included with the home study package. This assignment is required to be handed in for marking first thing on day one. Candidates will not be admitted into class without handing in a completed pre-course assignment.

Daily Assignments:
Assignments that will need to be completed outside of the course scheduled time (homework) will be assigned to each candidate on a daily basis.

Final Evaluation:
Candidates will complete a final written exam and practical scenario on the final day of the program. Candidates must obtain a minimum grade of 80% to complete this program.
