Teaching Experience Supervisor

Teaching Experience Supervisors will support and guide instructor candidates through their teaching experience and will evaluate them using competency-based criteria and feedback guidelines.


The following items are covered in this Teaching Experience Supervisor class:

  • Candidates have 60 days once their skills evaluation is complete to begin the online Fundamentals of Instruction - Teach Experience Supervisor online component.
  • Candidates have 30 days after completing the Fundamentals of Instruction – Online to start the classroom component.
  • Adhere to the Canadian Red Cross Standards of Behaviour and the Group Charter.
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course—this includes active, directed contributions at all scheduled sessions.


4 hrs skills/ 2-4 online


The following are the prerequisite that a student is required to have before being allowed into this course:

  • 18 years old
  • Proof of current CRC Instructor level certification (discipline specific) or anyone 18 years and older (or 16-17 years old with on-site adult support) who holds a Youth Leader certification.
  • A completed skills evaluation form is required for all candidates, except Youth Leaders
  • Youth Leaders must hold current SFA CPR C certification and do not require a skills evaluation.
  • Swimming and Water Safety Instructor Trainers (SWSIT) need to hold a current participant level certification in the course(s) they wish to supervise. SWSIT are eligible to complete the Fundamentals of Instruction online format.


Teach Experience Supervisors are a vital part to the Red Cross Instructor Program certification process. New instructor candidates need a safe place to test multiple concepts while preparing candidates for a realistic, up-to-date expectations of the classroom environment while being supported by an experienced Instructor.

This program is an online program that is approximately 2-4 hr.

Upon successful completion of this program you will have earned the following tickets:

  • Valid as long as a CRC Instructor certification is current.
  • Candidates are not required to purchase materials from original certification course unless the program has been revised.
