AHASTI's Response to COVID-19. Nov 15, 2021 Update.

AHASTI programs are deemed essential services and therefore are permitted to continue face-to-face training. We do encourage all participants to look at the blended options for training which will minimize the face-to-face time for certification completion.

AHASTI is a privately owned and operated company. Our owners are committed to supporting our communities and the COVID-19 initiatives, while maintaining the safety of our staff and participants during this time. We encourage everyone to get their vaccinations for COVID as soon as possible to help protect themselves, their loved ones, and the communities. At this time, is participating in the Restriction Exemption Program.

What to expect:

Masks will remain mandatory for all programs. All participants are spaced with a physical distancing of six (6) feet during the program. Please note that you will be required to remove/lower your mask for the ventilation portion of the CPR program for evaluation purposes only (approx 2 mins). Your instructor will inform you when this to be done.

Each classroom has been organized to accommodate only the number of participants that can accommodate the physical distance of six feet from all others. Visible spacing markers are in place as reminders.

All equipment has been cleaned and sanitized after each student and additional cleaning/sanitization products are available in all classrooms for participants additional comfort.


Red Cross Instructor Trainers

Job Description: AHASTI is looking for Red Cross Instructor Trainers for both the Calgary and Red Deer locations. AHASTI does all the registration, ordering of materials, pre course communication with candidates including pre-requisite checks and assigning of the micro teach topics. As the IT, you will bring your teaching TOOLKIT, a PASSION for sharing your knowledge and have a strong commitment to adhering to the Canadian Red Cross Program Standards and Code of Ethics.

Emergency Medical Responder Instructors

Job Description: This casual position is ideal for practitioners to share their passion for the industry by educating and assisting new candidates as they enter the industry. Our ideal candidate have a positive attitude towards this industry and governing body, are open to teaching candidates according to a competency based curriculum and are able to educate to the learners level, not the practitioners. AHASTI provides a COVID safe and friendly environment, we supply all the equipment and are in constant contact with the participants. All our instructors must be computer proficient in Zoom, powerpoint and ability to use self reflection to remember what it was like when you started your training, and apply these skills in a learner centred environment. Must be a registered Alberta Primary Care Paramedic with a teaching certification. Definite asset for teaching certification would be the Red Cross EMR Instructor/Professional Responder Instructor or willingness to complete this certification.

Job Pay: $22 - $25 based on experience

Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive Instructor

Job Description: The Alberta Health and Safety Training Institute is looking to hire an additional dynamic member for our team! The incumbent is responsible for delivering the Energy Safety Canada's H2S Alive and CSO programs. Flexibility to work weekday and weekends as needed is an asset. Candidates must have a current Energy Safety Canada's Instructor certificate, as well as excellent communication skills. Apply ASAP as qualified applicants may be chosen as they are found! AHASTI does provide a COVID safe and friendly environment with all course equipment and manuals. AHASTI will complete all the registrations. All instructors are required to bring their own teaching matierials and laptop/projector.

Permanent First Aid & CPR Instructor

Job Description: AHASTI has several spots available for currently certified Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructors. We will complete all the registrations, provide all equipment as per program standards and provide a COVID safe and friendly environment. All instructors are required to bring their own teaching TOOLKIT, have experience teaching, and have a strong commitment to adhering to the Canadian Red Cross Program Standards and Code of Ethics. Must be able to work weekends and have a reliable vehicle to get you to and from your scheduled shifts.

Job Pay: $20 - $24 based on experience and location of program.
